Duclos Gives It Away

June has been a busy month for Canadian politicians what with the Ukraine, Monkeypox and Inflation demanding their attention, yet of all the utterances from all of the mouths in Ottawa, three have caught my attention.

Most importantly is the pronouncement by Health Minister Duclos that we are 'transitioning' into a new level of 'full vaxxincation' and that additional pressure is being put on the provinces and territories to increase pressure on their populations to comply. Some of his comments and link to the article (in French) are below.

But first are the other two utterances which come from someone who is very good at this sort of thing;

“No government, politician, or man should tell a woman what she can and cannot do with her body. I want women in Canada to know that we will always stand up for your right to choose.”

And on the same day,

“It was their choice and nobody ever was going to force anyone into doing something they don’t want to do. But there are consequences when you don’t. You cannot choose to put at risk your co-workers. You cannot choose to put at risk the people sitting beside you on an airplane.”

I have no words for this level of hypocrisy.

What has become damning for Trudeau and Duclos are the recent hospitalization and death statistics for vaxxed vs un-vaxxed Canadians from February through the end of May this year.

An analysis of the Canadian Governments own data shows that, "the vaxxinated population as a whole has accounted for 4 in every 5 Covid-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths from 21st February 2022, up to 21st June 2022. It also shows the case/hospitalisation/death-rates per 100,000 population have been highest among the triple vaxxinated during the same time frame.

So high say the analysts that the data shows the triple vaxxinated are on average 4 times more likely to be infected with Covid-19, 2 times more likely to be hospitalised with Covid-19, and 3 times more likely to die of Covid-19 than the unvaxxinated.”

Even with damning statistics like that published, don't believe for a minute that restrictions and forced vaxxination are gone. On the 14th of June, Canadian Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos gave a news conference discussing the lifting of vaxxine restrictions for travel within and outside of Canada and said that it was part of a transitional period;

"Two doses are no longer sufficient to protect against infection and transmission, and that is why we are making the transition towards a definition of up to date vaccination.

The rate of Canadians who have received at least one dose of reminder is "too low" in the country. It is lower than any other country in the G7. We need to increase it significantly, at least at the level that we had in the last month for the second dose,"

In their June 14 article, La Presse writes that the federal government therefore plans to "work closely" with the provinces and territories to increase the rate of persons vaccinated with three doses in order to be adequately prepared to " what could happen in the fall ".

While 90.2% of Canadian adults are doubly vaccinated, only 58.5 % have received their third dose.

Given events to date, I'm sure that Mr. Duclos knows exactly what will happen in the fall. I'm not looking forward to our transition into mandatory vaxxination, even in the face of mounting evidence that the injections have a negative efficacy, but it's coming unless we keep fighting it.
